How Pulse AI Works
Natural language queries with live data access.
What is Pulse AI?
Pulse AI lets you ask questions about your retail infrastructure in plain English. Instead of writing SQL queries, navigating dashboards, or SSH-ing into servers, you type a question and get an answer grounded in your live data.
How it works technically
Pulse AI is powered by three components:
- Claude API (Anthropic): The large language model that understands your question and generates a response
- MCP (Model Context Protocol): A secure bridge that gives Claude read-only access to your live Pulse data
- Retail domain knowledge: System prompts that teach Claude about iVend concepts like replication, EOD settlement, loyalty programs, and ERP sync
Data privacy
- Your data never trains AI models. Anthropic's Claude API has a zero-retention policy for API customers.
- Pulse AI only accesses aggregated operational metrics — the same data shown in your dashboards. It cannot see transaction details, customer PII, or payment data.
- Every AI response is grounded in your data. Pulse AI doesn't guess or hallucinate — if the data doesn't support an answer, it says so.
What you can ask
Pulse AI is best at operational questions:
- Fleet status: "Which stores are offline right now?"
- Diagnostics: "Why is the health score dropping?"
- Comparisons: "Compare replication health this week vs. last week"
- Compliance: "Generate a compliance summary for the Dubai region"
- Trends: "Show me the health trend for Store 7 over 30 days"
Availability
Pulse AI is available on Pro (500 queries/month) and Managed (unlimited) tiers. It's included in the 30-day free trial.
